hectic time

this few months has been crazy..wonder how la if I am a Perdana Menteri..idup skrg pn cm dh tunggang langgang..sabo je la..hehe

OMG!!..It has been almost 3 month since my previous entry..huhu..So damn busy with lots of things throughout the months. OK2..will publish a post by end of this week..tunggu!!

A shocking morning

Today's post is not a happy post. Last Friday, I was shocked by a news that one of my RA's wife is critical in ICU. She was poured with ACID!..It felt like in a movie and can't believe that it is real..Really guys! I wish I was dreaming when my colleagues inform me about it..With a lot of uncertainties, not sure what has actually happen, we are praying and hoping that she is not in a critical condition. And on Saturday, her case was published in Metro. It was even more shocking to know that that bastard has caused injury to 3 WOMENS!..All incident happened in Brickfield!..What a crazy person!!.. He/she doesn't deserve any sympathy. Should just shot him/her straight to the head.

Ok back to my staff's wife story. As the bastard pour acid straight to her face and shoulder, her injury was most probably unrecoverable. To date we were informed that she might  lost her sight of her right  eyes. FYI, we are thankful that the acid was not the cuka getah..probably a diluted alcohol but the damaged is still devastating. 

Serously, I couldn't imagine if I am in her position. What a scary world we are living in now. So ladies, be careful ya!..Trust your gut and be safe!..My prayer's for Wan's wife and hope she will recover. May ALLAH's bless always with you. AMIN..

Lempeng susu 2 minit

Malam2 ni tetibe rase lapa plak..tp nk keluar dari rumah punyelah malas..Godek punye godek dalam dapur, jumpelah penyelamat idupku..berbekalkan tepung gandum yg dh bertahun2 tak bukak, maka terhasillah lempeng susu segera ku ini..

Resepinya, mudah giler..
1 cawan tepung gandum
1 cawan susu segar
1 biji telur
secubit garam
sedikit air
2 sudu gula

xde teknik yang tinggi skil diperlukan untuk menyediakan lempeng ni..campurkan sume bahan2 dan kacaukan sehingga sebati..cuma pastikan adunan tak terlalu pekat atau terlalu cair..Panaskan non-stick frying pan dan panaskan kuali dengan margerin..panas je kuali, jgn segan silu untuk mencurahkan barang sesenduk dua adunan (nak tebal, bykkan lg bilangan scoop adunan) dan goyang2kn pan supaya adunan 2 sekata di atas pan..agak2 dah masak satu bahagian (max 1 minit), tebalikkan supaya satu bahagian lagi masak juga..dan kemudian, letakkan di pinggan dan curahkan susu pekat manis diatasnye..

hmm..sdapnye hingga menjilat jari beb..ade juga yang suka mkn lempeng ni dengan kari, gula kabung, peanut butter, jem dan sebagainye..terpulang dengan selera masing2..anyway,slmt mencuba!

Soalannye nampak memang senang tp bagi aku by agak2 tido time Sejarah, mmg xboleh nk jawab..so trigger sikap ingin tahu ku jgak la..di saat2 ini, En google sangat2 la berguna..

Ni la padahnye xnk bc buku sejarah tingkatan 5. Kantoi jgak menjawapnye..Ini la cite sbenanye

4) Why do Malay language is very much different from the Thais?.

Xpnah2 aku tepk soalan ni..sila la bc link ini (Bahasa Melayu) tuk pemahaman bersama. Kalau ade yg tanye, boleh la korang jawap ngan jayanya

So, moral of the story adik2..sila ambil perhatian tentang sejarah anda..mungkin kita anggap xpenting tp bile bedepan ngan org luar dan kita tak tau nak jawab, terase sangat2 bodoh diri ini..

This month is the busiest month ever setakat ni...too much things to do in a too little time..3 weeks in a row memang xduduk rumah..After the writing retreat, and trip to PITC plot survey, I am assissting visiting researcher from Australia..Dr Alan. N Andersen.. He is actually my trainer during my short crash course in Australia..So datang sini untuk visit me n our site la..He's here from 21-26 Feb..I tell you, melayan kedatangan pelawat memang memenatkan..

Sape Dr Andersen ni sbenanye?..haa..meh cni I cerita sket..He is Chief Research Sceintist of CSIRO Darwin, Australia. HE speciealizes in tropical savannah management, ant community ecologyand invertebrates as indicators of ecosystem health. SO kirenye die ni mmg power pasal forest ecology la..especially kt Australia..

So untuk memenuhkan aktiviti beliau ketika di sini (skemanye aku), aku pon bawak la die g few sites kt Malaysia. Kt bawah ni adalah ringkasan adventure ktorang..hehe

First and foremost, mestila ke PITC..tempat tanah tumpah darah dan keringatku..hikhikhik..Tp biase la, formaliti sume kejadahnye, kne la bawak jumpe bos dulu kn..tung tang tung tang, kul 2 ptg, our journey begin..

Dengan bantuan Rozaimi dan abg Jamil as pemandu sampai la kt kem PITC adalah kul 10 mlm..Sebab dah seharian Dr ni xtido, die mmg sangat2 x sabar untuk tido..tp aisehman, die xbawak sleeping bad..menggagau la mencarik sleeping bag or comforter tuk die..sib baik la ade harta2 wakaf yang tinggal kt kem 2..dpt la bagi kt die..dan die pon tido la dengan amannye..hehe

Pagi2 lg die dh bgun (sbb time difference ngan Malaysia kot)..sib baik la die ni xbanyak songeh cm strngah researcher..tum tam tum tam, lpas brekfes yang disediakan abg paiman n harry, ktorang pon bergerak la ke hutan..masuk plot 3, 4, 5 dan jgak 12..Walaupon xberape nk teruk plot2 yg aku bawak, disebabkan die ni pencarik semut (cm aku jgak), so lame la jgak ktorang melepak kt setiap plot..yg paling best, die akan menguji ke"tererran" aku mengID species semut..yang buat aku kmbang idung, die byk kali salah ID..die ckp species lain tp aku ckp species lain..byk kali, aku yg menang..(xsia2 projek anto aku g berguru ke Jepun ngan Yamane sensei..hikhikhik)..Agak2 dlm kul 4 ptg, ktorang pon bergerak la balik ke kem..

Malamnye, aktiviti bersama2 org asli..die ni mmg suke nk tau pasal org asli..so kebetulan kt kem ktorang, ade org asli yang keje ngan team Harvesting, so die ckp ngan aku, nk tnjuk slaid2 gambar negara die..so disebabkan die xreti lgsg nk bercakap bahasa melayu, cube teka sape jd translaternye?..msti la aku..haha!!..tp overall, slaid presentation die mmg best..org asli pon gelak2 tgk gmba babuk (=awek2) australia..

Ari ni perjalanan balik dari PITC ke Hotel..sebab site ktorang mmg jauh, amik mase 7 jam untuk sampai, so sepanjang masa perjalanan aku diuji dengan ujian Sejarah, Antropologi, Perlembagaan dan Geografi..Mmg mencabar minda..ni aku fail..byk yg jwapan aku adalah I am not sure, I don't know dan yang sewaktu dengannye (malu gler siot)..nanti dlm entry seterusnye, aku cite plak soalan2 yg aku kne tnye ngan omputih ni..

Awal2 pg (8 pg OK!) aku dh tercangak kt hotel tuk jemput die ke FRIM..target ari ni, nk ke Pasoh..Sebelum 2, byk Dr Alan ni jumpe Dr Saw (Pengarah Bahagian) and Dr Christine..agak2 sejam dorang borak2..perjalanan ke Pasoh pulak bermula..Kali ni aku bwak assisstant2 kesayangan aku, Awe n Cena..

Perjalanan hampir 3 jam jgak..tuk korang g xtau, Pasoh ni adelah satu kawasan felda kt N.Sembilan. Terletak kt Simpang Pertang, Jempol, kawasan ni di dominate oleh kawasan Felda..n yang menariknye, kt kawasan ni, ade satu hutan simpan yang dikelilingi kelapa sawit..kawasan ni FRIM jadikan satu daripada ktorang punya tapak penyelidikan yang dikenali sebagai Stesen Penyelidikan FRIM Pasoh..

The second last day of Dr Andersen's visit, we utilize his expertise by having a more serious discussion about work and possible collaboration. Ye la, dh bpe hari kt Malaysia, so he have a better understanding on our forest and his ideas might benefit us in future. 

Disebabkan kita ni host yang baik, xkn la nk bg guest kita stress sepanjang hari kn..ptgnye, we brought him to one of the main attraction of Selangor..mane lagi kalau tak ke Kuala Selangor. Tempat-2empat yang dilawati adalah Bukit Melawati (melawat spiky monkeys=silverleaf monkeys), Dinner @ Pasir Penambang dan tentunya boat ride for firefly at Kampung Kuantan..Terkejut die tengok kelip2 yang kita ada..something yang die tak pernah tengok sebelum ini..hikhikhik

Bak kata orang, dah bawak pelawat merata2, xkn la xbawak kt laman sndiri kn..so memandangkan hari ni adalah hari last Dr Andersen kt cni, I've organized a guided tour to FRIM (Thanks Wan for helping).. With our experienced guard, MR Ang (ex FRIM staff), we went to FRIM's trail and explore the treasure that we have at our own backyard. Sib baik la ade Mr Ang sebab aku mmg xtau nk explain ape pon pasal FRIM ni..especially pasal pokok..knfem kantoi..Highlight of the tour mestila crown shyness..To complete our trip, we had a lunch @  Malay Tea House

After the trip to FRIM, it's time to say good bye. I send Dr Andersen to KLIA at around 5 pm.  Surprisingly, he gave me a half dozen of mini soap that we bought during our lunch just now.. I thought he bought it for his family (Thanx Alan!).

It's an eye opening experience. Taught me how to handle a visitor. It took a lot than just jalan2. We must be prepared and always creative to entertain our guest. So next time I receive a guest, I'll be more prepared.

A short trip to PITC

Hi all, 

Lepas seminggu balik dari PITC baru ade mase nak bukak blog ni..this entry nk cite plak pasal our journey ke PITC..Last week (16-19 Feb)our team of 8 went to PITC. The main goal is to assess damaged that has been done to our plots due to the logging. Kiranya nk tengok berapa teruk plot dan transect ktorang rosak akibat pembalakan so boleh stratergize pe yg ptot buat tuk next assessment.

In total, we got 24 plots throughout 200 ha of area..Lepas 2 tahun xmasuk hutan ni, the differences is very shocking. We can't even recognize the area. Our aim to visit all 24 plots looks very much impossible. Took us 1 hour to find our first plot..OMG..musnah hutan kesayangan ku..After a while, baru la bering betol balik n works become faster..On the first day, we decided to join forces..sebab not really clear on what we need to access. By 5pm, only 10 plots accessed and we went back for another adventure the next day..

On second day, we split into 2 groups. Each group assess 7 plots. I team up with Dzamir, Rozaimi, Ezu n Agah (Our reliable orang asli). we assess plot 1,13,14,15,16,17 and 18..Took us 5 hours to access all that. Anyway, enjoy pictures from our trip below.Photo credit to Ezu..

In conclusion, most of our plots are damaged and plot team need to go back and repair the plots before our assessment in April :-)

RBA guideline writing retreat

This RBA guideline is our project target since 2009..but this year it is for sure..Korang msti tertanya2 kn ape 2 RBA?..RBA is a short form of Rapid Biodiversity Assessment. This is part of our bigger project that I am currently attached to which is Conservation of Biodiversity Through Improved Planning Tools. RBA main output is to come out with a simple rapid biodiversity assessment tool that allows forest managers to assess their forest biodiversity in a simple, affordable and produce meaningful results. Berbalik kepada retreat, so demi memenuhi harapan negara dan bangsa yang terletak di bahu kami (pergh! ayat poyo), we did organize a retreat to some sort of "completekn" the book..Tempat pilihan???..Janda Baik Pahang..Sebab utama, jauh dari kesibukan kota dan ade sungai yang menarik..6 of us went there: Christine (our boss), Lizz, Ezu, Joann, Shahminee and myself, of course..It became some sort of ladies retreat jugak la..hehe..kat cni, mmg sejuk gler beb..tgh hari pon terpakse bersweater..eacy, breezy n cool la this area..sesuai tuk menenangkan diri dari kesibukan hiruk-pikuk kota..sejam je dari KL n sangat banyak pilihan hotel.chalet yang boleh dipilih..berbaloi2..

Baru tau that it's not easy to write a book..Apetah lg yg saintifik2 nih..Two days full of writing, writing and more writing..smpi bengkok la pinggang ktorang dok bersila nk siapkan kerja..but it's all worth it because agak siap la buku 2..dah ade bentuk dan rupe..

Sempena Tahun arnab pada Chinese New year tahun ni, let me tell you a story bout my babies..If other people choose to take a cat or puppy as a pet, I choose a rabbit..why??..actually it is all start accidently one..From babysitting terus menjadi my best pal..MY first bunny is named BUNNY..white, simmetrical spot, and very mengada2 angora mix bunny..

One day, Bunny hilang (partially my fault la)..Hilangnye Bunny really make me feel very depressed. Baru ilang arnab dh teruk giler rasenye..Tepk plak mak bapak yang kehilangan anak dorang..msti lagi sedih.. Bagi mengilangkan sedih dihati ku ini, someone hadiahkan this little boy to me..

**MORAL OF THE STORY: Hargailah sesuatu ketika ia masih ada di depan mata..**

Udang Masak Tempoyak Mama

Happy Sunday sume..

Semenjak duduk sorang2 ni, tahap kerajinan masuk ke dapur makin berkurangan..ye la..msak tuk sorang rase tak berbaloi..tp disebabkan duit makin kering diakhir2 bulan ni, makanya, kerajinan ke dapur terpaksa dilipat gandakan..so, menu semalam adalah...(drum roll please!)....Udang Masak Tempoyak Mama..ni mmg antara feveret all time but xpernah masak..so ape lg..memandangkan teknologi masa kini memudahkan perhubungan, mama la jd tmpat rujukan..

After consultation dengan yang pakar, berikut adalah resepinye...

1/2 kg udang yang dibuang kulitnye
2 sudu besar tempoyak kaw2!
1cm kunyit
2 biji cili merah
5 biji cili padi (nak lg pedas, tambah la lg k)
1/2 helai daun kunyit

Cara masaknye sangat2 la senang. Blenderkan tempoyak, kunyit, cili merah dan cili padi sampai halus..Panaskan kuali dan masukkan hasil pem"blender"an anda..Tambahkan air sesedap rasa supaya tak pekat sangat..biarkan mereneh dalam 15 minit..Then, masukkan the star of the dish (udang la) dan daun kunyit..Biarkan dalam 5-10 minit, tambahkan garam dan wallah!!...

Inilah hasilnye..makan dengan nasik panas n berulamkan kacang botol, knfem habis seperiuk nasik 2..hehe..
